Slade Hughes For County Commission
About Me
I grew up right here in Washington county.
I have a wide variety of experience in local and county government. When I was 18 years old I joined the volunteer fire department in Veyo and continue to serve as a volunteer. Later served a four-year term as a director of the northwestern special service district. Also currently serving on the Washington county Farm Bureau Board of Directors and as a Washington County planning commissioner for The last 5 years. I am a small business owner and agricultural producer. Also have also worked with the water company in Veyo the last 14 years. I have an understanding of infrastructure and am certified by the state of Utah in water rights. I have a well-rounded understanding of the issues of the county involving growth planning, entrepreneurship, agricultural production and water rights. If elected I can hit the ground running and keep this county going smoothly in a positive direction.
Protect Our Freedoms
The County Commission Has tasked Staff with Rewriting the county code. While setting on the planning commission I have always voted to preserve property rights and as your commissioner I would continue to be the voice of protecting our freedoms. I believe that freedoms are preserved best when government is least involved.
Hard work
I can Work Hard. My entire life has revolved around hard work. I grew up in Washington County on our family cattle ranch where working hard is a must. I have continued to be industrious and work hard with my children to teach them to work. As your commissioner I will be the example of working hard for the people of Washington County.
